Data Protection System (DPS)

The Data Protection System (DPS) is a specialty surge-suppression product designed to eliminate the 'blown communication chip' failure mode that plagues wired T-Max® and Intellitan® tanning bed data systems. If you run more than one tanning bed on a shared manager, the DPS pays for itself the first time it stops a cascading comm-chip failure.

Originally developed in 2017 at the request of Palm Beach Tan, the DPS is used well beyond dedicated tanning salons. Gyms and fitness clubs with a tanning section, hotels and resorts with amenity tanning rooms, apartment community wellness rooms, and multi-location franchise operators all rely on it to keep beds online and revenue-generating.

The DPS sits between your existing T-Max® or Intellitan® manager and the beds themselves. It only becomes active when the data-line voltage exceeds normal operating limits, so it never interferes with day-to-day operation — it simply isolates each bed from surge events that would otherwise fry communication chips across the whole system.

FAQ

Common questions about the Data Protection System (DPS).

Does the DPS replace my T-Max® or Intellitan® manager?+

No. The DPS sits between your manager and the tanning beds. Your existing T-Max® or Intellitan® system keeps running exactly as before — the DPS just protects it from the energy spikes that fry communication chips.

Do I need to re-wire my salon?+

No, if you choose the DPS-1 in-line version. It uses your existing 4-wire / RJ22 jacks and installs in about 10 minutes per bed. The DPS-5 series requires re-wiring but gives you a clean home-run layout.

Will the DPS prevent every kind of failure?+

It eliminates the two specific failure modes (high-voltage short-duration spikes and longer-duration over-voltage events) that cause communication chips to blow on T-Max® and Intellitan® systems. It cannot protect against unrelated tanning-bed failures.
