The Data Protection System (DPS) is a specialty surge-suppression product designed to eliminate the 'blown communication chip' failure mode that plagues wired T-Max® and Intellitan® tanning bed data systems. If you run more than one tanning bed on a shared manager, the DPS pays for itself the first time it stops a cascading comm-chip failure.
Originally developed in 2017 at the request of Palm Beach Tan, the DPS is used well beyond dedicated tanning salons. Gyms and fitness clubs with a tanning section, hotels and resorts with amenity tanning rooms, apartment community wellness rooms, and multi-location franchise operators all rely on it to keep beds online and revenue-generating.
The DPS sits between your existing T-Max® or Intellitan® manager and the beds themselves. It only becomes active when the data-line voltage exceeds normal operating limits, so it never interferes with day-to-day operation — it simply isolates each bed from surge events that would otherwise fry communication chips across the whole system.

PN: DPS-5P
Used when a salon converts from 4-wire daisy chain to RJ45 home-run wiring. Contains the protection voltage-clamping circuitry — required for every install. Protects 5 tanning beds. Includes 5 RJ45-to-RJ22 cable adapters.
PN: DPS-5S
Adds capacity in blocks of 5 beds. Connects to a Primary Base Unit via included RJ45 patch cable. Add as many secondaries as needed to cover the whole salon. Includes 5 RJ45-to-RJ22 cable adapters.
PN: DPS-1
For installs where rewiring the salon is not practical. Same protection circuitry as the Primary, but installs in-line with the bed using the included 36" cable. A skilled bed tech can install one in about 10 minutes.
PN: DPS-CC
Convert between Cat5e/RJ45 and the RJ22 (4p4c) jacks used on the T-Max / Intellitan data system. Solid data connections in the field. Sold in packs of 5. Red and black wires can also supply power to older T3A or G2 timer boards.
PN: DPS-SFS
These ultra-high-speed, extremely low-current fuses are not sold at hardware stores — using anything else will cause the system to misbehave. Sold as a complete assembly with the holding cover, pack of 4.

No, if you choose the DPS-1 in-line version. It uses your existing 4-wire / RJ22 jacks and installs in about 10 minutes per bed. The DPS-5 series requires re-wiring but gives you a clean home-run layout.
It eliminates the two specific failure modes (high-voltage short-duration spikes and longer-duration over-voltage events) that cause communication chips to blow on T-Max® and Intellitan® systems. It cannot protect against unrelated tanning-bed failures.
